Abstract

Philosophical-Historical Analysis of the Relationship between Consciousness and Animal Aggression in Contrast with Mechanistic Approaches
(Based on the Opinions of Allama Tabatabaei, Allameh Javadi Amoli and Mulla Sadra)

The main issue of this research is the consciousness and animal aggression in religious texts (Quranic verses and narrations) and Islamic philosophy, based on the opinions of Allama Tabatabaei, Allameh Javadi Amoli and Mulla Sadra, in contrast with mechanistic approaches to it. The research method is analytical-comparative, and in the first stage, the views of Allama Tabatabai and Allama Javadi Amoli on the verses related to consciousness and animal aggression are examined, then in the second step, Mulla Sadra's theory on the relationship between consciousness and animal aggression is analyzed. Next, looking at the empirical findings on animal perception, the contrast of this view (philosophical-historical) with the mechanistic theories of philosophers such as Descartes and Mallarmein is analyzed. The results indicate that the philosophical-jurisprudential approach, by combining rational and narrative evidence, not only proves the sentience of animals, but also explains the possibility of their resurrection as a reasonable matter.
